Baby Chick

Second-grade students at Hopewell had an “eggciting” hands-on learning experience as they studied embryology and watched baby chicks hatch right before their eyes.

As part of a special science unit, the young learners incubated fertilized eggs, carefully monitoring temperature and humidity levels while learning about the life cycle of a chicken. After weeks of anticipation, the classroom was filled with excitement as the first cracks appeared in the eggs, leading to the arrival of fluffy new additions.

The students were so engaged throughout the process and they learned about patience, responsibility, and the science behind how living things develop. The experience didn’t just teach the children about biology—it also sparked curiosity!
