Ms. Cagle, Hopewell Elementary's Art teacher, has been incorporating literacy in her art classes. Here are pictures of two of the projects below. Kindergarten students read the book, The Big Orange Splot, and created their own unique houses inspired by Mr. Plumbeam and his neighbors. Fourth grade students read the book, Arrow to the Sun, a Pueblo Indian tale. After looking closely at the bold and unique illustrations in the book, each student then created their own arrow focusing on design and contrast. All arrows are displayed together to create one large eye-catching work of collaborative art.
